Vital meds unavailable

Rape victims requiring the emergency HIV-prevention kit and other patients have not been receiving medication on weekends at St Rita's Hospital in Jane Furse, Limpopo, for the past two months.

Exhausted pharmacists at the hospital had been demanding additional man-power due to the heavy workload, and from July 13 had decided to abandon the overtime shift.

This means that presently no medication is dispensed after 04:30pm and that the facility shuts down on weekends.
